What you’ll be creating

To create this image of Alice, we’ll start by creating the atmosphere and the main stage in the form of road maps. Next, we’ll add we begin to add items as teapots, cups of little cards and other. Finally, we’ll finish it up with a image correction and adding effects. You’ll need any version of Photoshop, inspiration and good mood!

Step 1

Start by creating! Create a new document. Go to File > New or the short key Ctrl+ N. A blank document with size of 2000 pixels wide and 3000 pixels high. I named the document “Alice”.

Let’s start off adding the sky to our manipulation. Go to File > Place and select the image of the sky.

Step 3

After addition of the sky, then stretch, as shown in Figure. To transform the sky, press Ctrl+ T or go to Edit > Transform > Scale. Pull the black cubes in the corners formed frame.

Step 4

To the sky was brighter and stood out edges of the clouds, I added an adjustment layer to the sky. Go to Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Brightness / Contrast or button in the Layers palette and set the settings: Brightness 13, Contrast 13.

Step 5

Then add another layer > New Adjustment Layer > Photo Filter. These layers make a sunset sky.

Set the settings: Filter – Warming Filter (85), Density: 17.

Step 6

Then add another layer> New Adjustment Layer > Hue/ Saturation.

This layer will make the color more vivid sunset.

Set the settings: Saturation: +13, Lightness: +1 Now the sky is brighter with a strong color that gives unusual picture
At this stage, work with the background sky will be over.

Step 7

I did not like the sky of the source file, so I decided to replace it with a more beautiful and bright.

Add image sky File > Place.

Transform it to fit the document. Then, to remove the sharp transition between the background and a new heaven, add a layer mask:

Choose a brush and set with the settings: Size: 500px, Hardness: 0%, Opacity: 50% Flow: 100%.

Step 9

Required Click D on keyboard to restore color and black painting on the layer mask, removing the sharp transition of the sky to the horizon.

Done! At this stage, the scene is complete. I am satisfied with the brightness of the sky and a smooth transition and the resulting scene. Here is how it should turn out. Do not forget to save your work process result hitting the short keys Ctrl+ S! Getting to the creation of the road playing cards!

Step 10

Download playing cards. Opening playing cards stocks in Photoshop by hitting the short keys Ctrl+ O or File > Open. This will lead us to the folder in the computer where we have saved the image.

Next, we will cut out playing cards of the image. Take the lasso tool in the tool panel. We will use this tool to cut out the part.

Highlight the desired card and press Refine Edge. Change the blending mode to Overlay (V).

So you can see where you select the unwanted piece of playing card and highlight deficiencies in the form of a white background. You can remove them by selecting the brush in this window.

Now set the settings as shown in the photo to remove the bumps and smooth edge selection.

After applying, copy Ctrl+ C cards and go to document our work.

Step 13

Create a group. Click on the Layers panel and call it “Cards”.

There insert the card. Pressing Ctrl+ V.

After you move all the cards to the project, start them from the road. Put a few cards in the bottom left corner. You can change the size and slope hitting the short keys Ctrl+ T.

For ease of installation, unnecessary layers can turned off by clicking on the eye icon in the Layers panel. To put the right card over the other, move the layer to the desired card above the lower card. To do this, in the Layers palette, select the desired layer, grab it and move it up or down.

To road looked realistic, you arrange the cards with the slope, you can turn some and arrange them receding into the distance.

Does not necessarily have to follow my drawing. Create your own version if you want.

Step 15

Now we’ll work with the perspective. Select the group with cards and hitting the short keys Ctrl+ T. Right-click on the image and choose from the list. Should get something like the picture.

Continue the road to the horizon. After all the changes, click the selection tool on the toolbar.

Hold Alt on keyboard and start dragging the resulting fragment road to the right place.

Now select any layer in the group “way” and duplicate it. Create a new group, name it « Fly cards », and place the duplicated layer in this group. This done by holding the LMB and drag the selected layer to the right place.

Now select all three groups with all the cards and add to group hitting the short keys Ctrl+ G. Hold down Ctrl select the layer mask way and the drag it to the new group with all other.  Take the brush and remove unwanted parts flying bridges on the mask.

I like the result! Now Let’s give our unusual work. I temporarily closed layers with flying and small cards. Therefore, it will be free to work. In order temporarily, make the invisible, click on the eye icon next to the desired group.

I want to add flying umbrellas and fans. To do this, download the Graphics umbrellas and fans. Open the picture with umbrellas and fans hitting the short keys Ctrl+ O and choose the desired image.

Take Quick selection tool and circle the desired umbrella. For my work, I took black and red umbrellas. Once umbrella allocated, copy it hitting the short keys Ctrl+ C   or follow in Edit > Copy.

Click on the tab with our installation and create a new group. Call it “umbrellas and fans” Create another group within the group. Call it “black umbrellas”. Paste the copied image of the umbrella hitting the short keys Ctrl+ V.

Duplicate umbrella 3 times.

Transform the umbrella hitting the short keys Ctrl+ T to the desired size and move it to the desired location.  To apply the changes, click Enter.

Move the remaining umbrellas as shown and reduce each umbrella.

Now we proceed a red umbrella. Select the desired us an umbrella, using Quick Selection Tool hotkey W. Copy it hitting the short keys Ctrl+ C.

Go to the tab of our work and create a new group called “red umbrellas” insert it into our work hitting the short keys Ctrl+ V.

Duplicate umbrella 6 times.

Now transform each umbrella and move into place.

Select the first umbrella and press hitting the short keys Ctrl+ T for transformation. Reduce the umbrella and tilt it slightly.

Transform the fans to the desired size, tilt, and position them near the road of cards.

Highlight the mask group “umbrellas and fans” and remove unwanted parts of fans as shown in Figure. Take a soft brush with settings Size: 75px, Hardness: 0% Opacity: 45%, Flow: 70%.

Draw black in those places where fans superimposed on cards.

Now add two adjustment layers to umbrellas and fans.

The first layer is the curves. Click on the icon adjustment layers and select Curves.

Move point as shown in Figure. This will give depth to the dark parts that highlight pattern on umbrellas and fans. Do not forget to click on “clips to the layer” that changes apply to the group “umbrellas and fans”.

Add a second adjustment layer. All the same. Click on the icon adjustment layers and select Gradient Map.

Now add kettle. Go to File > Place and select the image of the kettle. After added to work the kettle, created the group in our work and calling it a “Tea Kettle” and move the layer to the group. Select tools Magic Tool in the toolbar and select the kettle.

Duplicate the layer with cup 5 times hitting the short keys Ctrl+ J. I erased some cups plates, taking a brush with the previous settings and mask cups, black, wiped saucers.

Now add saucers. Go to File > Place and select the image of the saucers. Choose a Quick Selection Tool. Select the cup and hitting the short keys Ctrl+ Shift +I. Click on the mask icon in the Layers panel. Now reduce cup to the desired size, hitting the short keys Ctrl+ T.

Now add adjustment layer to a group with cups and saucers. Click on the icon adjustment layers and select Curves. This will give depth to the dark parts that highlight pattern on. Do not forget to click on “clips to the layer” that changes apply to the group.

That nothing prevented, I have combined all groups with all our kettles, cards and the like in the same group. It has no name :)

Finally, I finished with all the small details. Now the fun part.
Now add the model. Go to File > Place find the model and add an image. Distinguish the background so that only the model. Select the Quick Selection Tool and circle model.

After selection, press the —-. In the menu that appears, choose a blending mode Overlay, to see exactly how our selection. Select the magnifying glass and zoom. See sharp burrs around our model? I did not like the look of the model, so I decided to add a little color to her skin and dress. Add a little color to the skin of the girl. To do this, create a new layer and set its opacity to him 90%. Now select the brush tool and set the following settings: Size: 50px, Hardness: 0% Opacity: 25% Flow: 20%. Choose a color # ebd5c1 and gently draw the skin of the girl.

Add a shadow on the figure of the girl.
Create a new layer, calling it a “shadow.” Choose a brush with these settings: Size: 75px, Hardness: 0% Opacity: 45%, Flow:20%.

Then click on the icon color and select a color # 3e3e3e. Draw shadow under the soles on the left boot and the clouds.

Draw pouring tea and steam from it. Create a new layer and select the brush with these settings: Size: 35px, Hardness: 0% Opacity: 45%, Flow:55%., choose a color and draw a stream of tea.

Create a new layer and select the brush these settings Size: 90px, Hardness: 0% Opacity: 45%, Flow:55%. as shown in Figure. This time we use a texture brush. It is in the standard brushes. Color – # e2e2e2.

Now we need to show the incidence of light. Create a new layer by pressing Ctrl + Shift + N. In the menu that appears, set the settings as shown in the figure.

Select the “Dodge tool”, specify the following settings for the tool. Now start to draw on the newly created layer in places where the light should fall. Now proceed to the creation of an atmosphere. In this part, we will work to picture atmosphere and colors of the image. For this, we will use adjustment layers. We will work only with them. Let’s get started! Create the first adjustment layer. Click on the icon adjustment layers and select Color balance.

Add new adjustment layer. Click on the icon adjustment layers and select Color balance. In the window that appears, select “Shadows”, and set the values as shown in Figure.

Go to the Layers palette, select the layer mask created with black paint, sketch a blue sky, and a little lower. This layer makes the midtones more pink clouds and gives tenderness composition.

Add new adjustment layer. Click on the icon adjustment layers and select Color balance. In the window that appears, select “Highlights”, and set the values as shown in Figure.

Go to the Layers palette, select the layer mask created with black paint, and sketch a blue sky slightly curved. This layer makes the bright parts of the clouds over yellow.

Now I wanted to do all the work a little more contrast. Add new adjustment layer. Click on the icon adjustment layers and select Curves. Add a point and place it slightly to the right.

The final touch!  Create new layer. Take Elliptical Marquee Tool (M) and make a big ellipse. Invert this selection hitting the short keys Ctrl+ Shift +I by removing the black.

Now select black color and fill the selection. Change the layer mode to color

Now add a mask to this layer. Take brush these settings Size: 2000px, Hardness: 0% Opacity: 45% Flow: 55%, and black paint to soften the edges and color showing on cards by removing the black.
